Description

The intersection of Douglass St. and Mass Ave. feels really uncomfortable and unsafe as a pedestrian, especially during rush hour. When Mass Ave. traffic has the red light (as in the picture), drivers coming from Brookline St. have a green light and many cross Mass Ave. to continue on Douglass. The crosswalk across Douglass is not signalized so pedestrians can cross at will, but motorists trying to get across the street quickly often pull up and basically menace pedestrians who are trying to cross Douglass. Could something be done to make pedestrians safer here?
