Description
Cars audibly scrape their front bumper on this bump all day and night. Even cars who moderate speed catch their bumper coming down off the raised area, particularly traveling from concord toward garden. The slope of the bump needs to be lessened/be made more gradual so that we in the area are not hearing crashing and scraping all day and night. At meeting prior to construction, this raised area was likened to ones on Sherman near Danehey. This one is much more a speed bump than just a raised crosswalk.

Again, at the public meetings, this issue was raised and we were assured it would be not a speed bump, but a raised crosswalk. Instead it has a “bump” warning sign and arrows on the pavement. (In writing this 2 cars have scraped by.)

City should not be in the business of damaging someone's car to make some sort of a point.

This one definitely scrapes more cars than most of the other raised crossings do, but my aftermarket lowered car has no trouble getting over it if I go slowly. My other car has no trouble at the speed limit of 25mph. Perhaps it is just schadenfreude on my part, but I do derive some joy from seeing a minimum of 2 cars every day hit the jump at 40mph and get at least two wheels fully airborne.
That said, I do generally detest speed bumps. They rarely have much impact beyond the 50ft or so where people slow for the bump. This particular one is a poor substitute for having an actual officer do his job, and the cost to the city is similar for either option (perhaps even less expensive to have a policeman do some police things for once given the revenue that would be generated).
Since we're never going to have a police department that does any type of traffic enforcement whatsoever, this raised crossing is about as good as we're going to get.
